Welcome to the United Kempo Karate Association, where tradition meets innovation, and martial arts are more than just techniques, they’re a way of life. Founded in 2008 by Michael Breen, our school is dedicated to teaching the powerful art of Kempo Karate while fostering personal growth, discipline, and a sense of community among our students.
Our Mission
At the United Kempo Karate Association, our mission is to empower individuals of all ages through martial arts training. We are committed to helping students build physical strength, mental focus, and emotional resilience while equipping them with the practical self-defense skills they need in today’s world. Our goal is not just to teach martial arts but to inspire confidence, cultivate respect, and promote lifelong learning.
What Is Kempo Karate?
Kempo Karate is a dynamic and versatile martial art that combines the precise striking techniques of karate, the joint locks and takedowns of jiu-jitsu, and the fluid movements of kung fu. This fusion creates a comprehensive system designed to enhance self-defense capabilities while promoting overall fitness, balance, and coordination.
With its roots in ancient traditions, Kempo Karate emphasizes adaptability, making it an effective discipline for practitioners of all experience levels. Whether you’re looking to improve your physical fitness, learn practical self-defense, or develop a deeper sense of inner discipline, Kempo Karate offers something for everyone.
Our Approach
The United Kempo Karate Association takes pride in blending traditional martial arts values with modern, forward-thinking instruction. Our approach to teaching focuses on three key principles:
- Respect for Tradition
We honor the history and heritage of martial arts by incorporating time-tested techniques, philosophies, and practices into every lesson. - Practical Training for Today
We believe martial arts should be practical and effective for modern-day self-defense. Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for real-world scenarios while fostering critical thinking and adaptability. - Building a Strong Community
At our school, every student is part of a family. We create a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can grow together, celebrate achievements, and forge lifelong connections.
Meet Our Founder
Michael Breen, the founder of the United Kempo Karate Association, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the dojo. His training in the style of Kempo Karate was shaped by the teachings of Grandmaster Buell, whose influence remains a cornerstone of our approach. Through this lineage, Michael developed a deep respect for the traditions and philosophies of martial arts, which he has worked to preserve and share with his students.
In 2008, Michael established the United Kempo Karate Association to bring the principles of Kempo Karate to a new generation. His dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive training environment has made the United Kempo Karate Association a trusted name in martial arts education.
